Best Man- Eric Askins
Whether discussing movies, politics, or comic books Eric challenges me to think better. He’s the Ed Norton to my Ralph Kramden, or vice versa depending on who is scheming. When he started a bartending company I was ready to pour the drinks, and if it wasn’t for him I may not have ever started doing improv comedy. As the first of my friends to get married and have kids, he’s the one who made the idea of starting a family and giving up bachelorhood sound like the good life.
Rivka Little- Groomswoman
The day I met Rivka we spent approximately 12 hours talking non-stop. It was more than kindred spirits; from the moment we met, Rivka and I were instant family. She’s the sister I never knew I needed in my life. The weird thing is, it is like we’ve been in each other’s lives all along. Although we come from completely different families, many of our coming of age stories share a similar tone. They say history doesn’t repeat itself, but it sometimes rhymes. Our lives simply harmonize.
Dave Rose- Groomsman
Don’t let the curiously adorable baby in a safely secured bjorn fool you, Dave has been the enabler of some of my most reckless behavior. Because of him, I’ve tried out skiing, sky diving, and home ownership. We’ve been friends since freshman year of high school and the days of playing cards in the back of the bus. Time and time again I’ve seen him create something from nothing which never ceases to impress me. If the Amazing Race ever calls he’s the guy I want on my team.
Clyde Jackson- Groomsman
There are two things I’ve never seen Clyde do: try to cheat someone, or dwell on something negative. He doesn’t just find the good in the world, he delivers it to everyone he meets. He’s been cheering Maria and I on from the start--literally. Clyde was there on our first “date” as a pseudo-chaperone, which made both of us more comfortable and started Maria and I towards the path we’re on. This is what I mean; this is a man who delivers.
Chris Briscoe- Groomsman
Chris is a cross between the brain Isaac Newton and the chin Bruce Campbell. With a PHD in physics, he’s one of the smartest people I know and at the same time he’s also one of the most fun. Back in college his parties were the ones that we still talk about. In fact, it was at one of these parties that Maria and I crossed paths for the first time since high school. He’s a man who is going places, but never forgets the people who have been there for him. Chris is one of the people I know I can call on in a real bind.
