It all started in High School... Or rather it could have started in High School. María Florencia and Andwele both went to Bronx Science, and although they were in the same grade and shared many of the same friends, in a school of thousands Fate had difficulty bringing the two together. But Fate was not to be so easily dissuaded.
Time moved on and Fate decided to try once more. In college, María Florencia was invited to a house party at Chris Briscoe's college apartment (Chris happened to be friends with María Florencia and Andwele, so both were to be at this party). The night finally came and they did in fact meet. Andwele even made María Florencia her first drink, a fuzzy navel. Pleased with its accomplishment, Fate thought its job was done, but Chance had other designs. Even though this was a meeting of destiny at a house party, this was no normal house party. Kid n' Play couldn't have competed with Briscoe and his roommates’ parties. Chance had placed Andwele behind the bar and with over 400 people looking for spirits he never spent more than five minutes talking to anyone, preventing him from learning anything of the charms of María Florencia.
Crushed but not defeated, Fate would try again months later at another party, this time on Halloween. On this occasion, Chance could not put a bar between them, but still cut their meeting short by striking one of Andwele's friends sick. He left the party early to care for his friend, thus separating the two once more.
Fate was perplexed by yet another setback, but soon came to realize that while Chance was cunning, it could be defeated. Fate knew all it needed was to give María Florencia and Andwele time to get to know each other, so Fate called on Luck. Luck was able to bring them back together at their pseudo five year High School reunion, at Hooters no less. With both Luck and Fate working together María Florencia and Andwele met again for the first/third time and hit it off. Emails were exchanged and a connection was forged. Chance would try again over time by keeping them in different cities and overwhelming them with difficult schedules, but Fate and Luck had built something that Chance was no match for.
